History of CMMI

CMMI Timeline
This timeline includes more than the release of CMMI products. It also includes ancestor models as well. 

2010’s
2018 – Version 2.0 of CMMI Development, CMMI Services, CMMI Supplier Management released.
2011 – Third edition of the CMMI for Development book and second editions of the CMMI for Acquisition and CMMI for Services books are released.
2010 – Version 1.3 of CMMI for Acquisition, CMMI for Development, and CMMI for Services is released.
2010 – First edition of the Integrating CMMI and Agile Development book is released.

2000’s
2009 – CMMI for Services, V1.2 (the initial version) is released.
2009 – First edition of the CMMI for Services book is released.
2009 – First edition of the CMMI for Acquisition book is released.
2008 – Version 1.2 of CMMI for Acquisition Primer is released.
2008 – Third edition of the CMMI Distilled book is released.
2007 – First edition of the CMMI and Six Sigma book is released.
2007 – CMMI for Acquisition, V1.2 (the initial version) is released.
2006 – CMMI Survival Guide: Just Enough Process Improvement is released.
2006 – Second edition of the CMMI for Development book is released.
2006 – CMMI for Development, V1.2 is released (with the addition of “for Development” in the name to anticipate the future releases of the other two models for acquisition and services).
2005 – CMMI SCAMPI Distilled: Appraisals for Process Improvement is released.
2003 – First edition of the CMMI for Development book is released.
2002 – CMMI V1.1  is released.
2002 – Software Acquisition CMM, V1.03  is released.
2000 – CMMI V1.02 Staged and CMMI V1.02 Continuous (the initial versions) are released. (V1.0's preliminary release was in 1999 but it had issues so V1.02 was the first official CMMI release)

1990’s
1998 – EIA 731 Systems Engineering Capability Model (SECM) is released.
1997 – Software CMM, V2 draft C is unofficially released.
1997 – The Integrated Product Development CMM is unofficially released.
1996 – INCOSE Systems Engineering Capability Assessment Model is released.
1995 – Systems Engineering CMM, V1.1 is released.
1993 – CMM for Software, V1.1 is released.
